Sarah Clement is an illustrator + surface pattern designer. She specializes in botanical and animal themed drawings utilizing pen, ink and photoshop. Creating whimsical illustrations with flowing patterns that delight and inspire, Sarah's work celebrates the art of story telling. Using nature as her most influential teacher, she believes that art can spark joy and create positive change in the world.
Sarah is a graduate of Emily Carr University of Art and Design (BFA 2010) in beautiful Vancouver, British Columbia. Her work takes cues from the natural world and honours careful craftsmanship. Growing up in the Pacific Northwest, she has been drawing plants and animals for as long as she can remember. She is inspired by the flowing, organic shapes found in nature and this translates into rhythm and movement in her work.
She works from her home studio in Vancouver, where the large window lets in the most beautiful light and makes her many house plants happy. Working alongside Rocky, the helpful studio cat, Sarah spends her days creating, conceptualizing for clients and bringing projects to life with whimsy and colour.
Swimming in the ocean, running, biking, yoga and meditation are some of Sarah's favourite activities. Not to mention spending time with friends and getting out into the big, beautiful natural world.
Projects ranging from album covers, temporary tattoos, skis, murals, editorials, and greeting cards, Sarah does not limit her medium, and enjoys collaborating with clients and other artists. In addition to her many diverse projects, she has had the privilege of illustrating a children's book, 'Half for You & Half for Me' by Katherine Govier, published by Whitecap Books, selected as a 'Heather's Pick' by Chapters Indigo.
